To The Editor of the Journal Inquirer:
The recentblood bank collection of the Manchester Thanksgiving Road Racecommittee was a great success and for the tenth consecutive year anew record of 284 units (pints) of blood was collected.
In additionto those donors who came from Connecticut others came from the statesof Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, New York, Pennsylvania andAlabama. Furthermore, donors came from forty two towns andcities.
One hundredand eighty of the donors ran in the race or participated in it in oneform or another!
A T-shirtemblazoned with the logo of the Manchester Road Race was given toeach donor as has been the custom since the the blood bank wasestablished.
Next year onthe day after thanksgiving another blood collection will be held bythe American Red Cross and the Road Race Committee and, hopefully, another record will be made.
To all thosewho helped in this effort, our grateful thanks.
Charles E. Jacobson Jr., M.D.
Chairman of Blood Bank
